I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report.  In our top story Slytherins not happy to simply rule the quidditch pitch created a challenge within a challenge for quaffle match #3 this week.  Not only will we out number the mighty badgers but we will out ugly them as well.  Lets take a look at some of the low-lights.

I'm pretty much speachless.  Who will win the title for ugliest hat?  Will the hapless Hufflepuffs worry we've lost our minds?  Who will be hit on by snowboarders?  Only time will tell.

Weather:  A fantastic fun fur fog is predicted to persist through the evening.

In other stories it was learned this week that dispite the rumors, Slytherins do not eat their young.  Though the genetic trait for button pushing is passed directly from Slytherin mothers to their young.

Forgivable Curse: Steekload.  As in, "Mary hauled a steekload of bodies down to the quarry."

From the Sub-human interest desk - 4 days.  Only four days left in May and if you are in the US it is a three day weekend.  What are you doing with your four days?  Are you going to craft like a mother felter to try and squeak out a few more classes?  Will it be nothing but avian destruction as you pick away at your OWL?  Or have you had enough and you are simply going to forget that you craft and walk the streets listlessly yelling forgivable curses at people?  For me it will be all of the above.

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report.  In our top story, Quidditch!  This week saw the house of Slytherin or should we say, SlytherWIN, out fly the Gryffindors in the first Quaffle challenge with a final score of 104 to 80.

The tossing of chilled muggle sports drink over team captain Snowqueen73 was temporarily put on hold as the Snakes were called to the pitch for Quaffle match #2 - Revenge of the illusion dish cloths and wee animalia.  For this round every snake can make one of the approved patterns and post it no later than midnight POT on Sunday, yes, the day after tomorrow.  Lets show those Eagles how its done.  As of this writing Slytherin:  22,  Ravenclaw:  14.  But let's not get complacent.  Those mighty tower dwellers always have a plan.

Weather:  A cotton mirage was seen on the horizon of Dishsoap Desert.

In other stories the snakes are rocking the classwork.  Here are some of my favorites:
Alyanome for Muggle Studies

Jesseknits for History of Magic

BadAmy for DADA
Peanutzmom for Potions
Noctuae for Ancient Runes
Gothknitty for Charms
Joseybug for Astronomy
Plainandsimplegarak for Care of Magical Creatures

Forgivable Curse of the Week:  You look like you've been slapped with the Snape stick. (Or is that a compliment?  Hmmm.)

From the Sub-Human Interest Desk we have RL Hotties.  While wandering about on my construction site this week I covertly took a photo of one of the hottest hotties I've ever worked with to email to another architect who drools over him.

No, I won't be sharing said photo, as with my luck his wife is a Slytherin and then it would get messy, but here are some photo tips:
              1.  Be sure the flash and and volume are set to "off".
              2.  Look at the phone screen as though you were reading an e-mail off it and say, "ugh, this guy sends the stupidest e-mails."
              3.  If this fails pretend to be taking a photo of something in the distance beyond said hottie.
              4.  And if all else fails, walk up to the hottie and say, "Um, yeah so I'm part of this group of lecherous knitters and I'd really like to share your photo with them."  He might say okay.  You never know.

Well, my friends I really need to head off to finish up my DADA homework as Snape is withholding until I finish.  I love you all and see you next week.

Weekend Report

I'm Rockinsticks and this is Weekend Report.  In our top story classes were revealed this week leading to an outstanding amount of plotting on the chatter sofas in the common room.  If you missed the plotting sessions please enjoy these recommendations for homework appropriate free patterns....

DADA - Nothing quite says Japan like a Ninja Cat.

Muggle Studies - One of my favorite paintings is St. Sebastian with the single arrow through the neck by Perugino Pietro  maybe this Little Arrowhead Shawl would work nicely?

Charms -Remember before chats and e-mail when we would write actual letters to people?  Perhaps this little pen case could represent a connection between people that has become somewhat antiquated?

Astronomy - A lumpy bumpy lego wallet anyone?

Care of Magical Creatures - If you've had a child you know that you spend a crazy amount of time the first day looking at those tiny hands.  Why not whip up some baby mittens to protect those treasured little paws?
History of Magic - Lime green bowler hatJust think of the looks on the muggles in your town when you step onto the bus wearing this piece.

Ancient Runes - Secret societies and secret messages?  How about the ever popular dark mark illusion scarf

Potions - Mixing color....you know you want to....
In Weather:  A fast moving front of quivit clouds will be moving through the valley this weekend bringing scattered showers of singleply.

In Sports the Quidditch season is underway.  Only six more days until the start of our first opportunity to divot up the pitch with thundering quaffles.  So get poised for the release of the snitch pattern on May 13th.  Be it hotties, martinis, ninja cats or killer bunnies - in Slytherin, everyone's a chaser.

Forgivable Curse of the Week:  Sweet Merlin's knotted skein and bulky balls!

And finally from the Sub-Human Interest Desk - my bookshelf.  This time of month, classes starting not that other thing you giggling gryphon gomers, always has me perusing the patterns online and in my personal library.  As I unpacked books this week I realized with mock shame that I have more knitting books than the LYS.  Maybe its time for another giveaway.  Stay tuned.

That is all for this week.  This is Rockinsticks signing off.  Slyther to victory my scaly pals.

Welcome to the Spring 2011 Term

Welcome Slytherins to the Spring 2011 term! I hope everyone is ready for another exciting term here at the House Cup. I would like to take this time to welcome all of the first years as well as our transfer students from other houses and hope you enjoy your time here in Slytherin. Also welcome back to all returning Snakes.

There are just a few things I want to remind everyone before I forget. First, please keep in mind that you are required to complete one class each month to mantain an active status here at the House Cup. This means classes. Detention projects, OWLs, and Quidditch do NOT count for the one class a month requirement. But if for some reason you are unable to complete a class for the month, please let your Big/Middle Snake, one of the Prefects, the Head Girl, myself (Head of House), or the School nurse know what is going on. This is to insure that you can maintain your status for the next term and we can be assured you just haven’t vanished off the face of the planet. But if you do vanish off the face of the planet, then please tell The Doctor that I said “hi”.

Next I would like to address the Snake Nests. There are 10 Nests with one Big Snake and two Middle Snakes. This will be our second term where every Snake is in a Nest. It seemed to have gone over well last term so this was continued into the current term. First years, this can be of great help to you. The upperclass Snakes are a fountain of knowledge. Feel free to use them. Do not be afraid to ask questions if you have them. Also if you are having issues, please let your Big Snake or one of the Middle Snakes know.

And to wrap things up there are just a few things to keep in mind as you settle into the Snake Pit.

Disagree = awesome. So if you have noticed that the “disagree” button on your post has been pushed it simply means someone thinks you are awesome. So don’t be sad.

Feel free to post pictures of your favorite hotties. Please do post the name so that curious Snakes are able to look up more pictures. Also keep in mind that not everyone may already know who the person is and would greatly apprectiate a name. And lastly keep in mind that full frontal nude shots are a no-no. Please keep your hotties appropriately covered.

Don’t think you have to keep up with all the threads. I know it can be a bit overwhelming at times. And don’t feel that you have to do everything. All I ask of every Snake is that you complete one class a month. Every project counts. Every point counts. Please do not hurt yourself trying to do more than you are cabable of completing in a month.

I am sure that if I have forgotten something, then the lovely and talented Head Girl suenosdejmi will let me know. Thank you. Enjoy the term and let’s get the House Cup back where it belongs.

Spring Session 2011 - Ready Set Go

It is that time of the year, where first years wait with baited breath to find out what house the Sorting Hat placed them, and returning students wondering what changes the Professors will put into place and of course there are OWL and NEWT submissions. Oh, of course we can't forget to mention Quidditch.

Things to do the first week of classes, should you need a checklist:

1. Check out the Slytherin Quest Cove. If you want to participate you will need to submit by May 31. Depending on what level you decide will help you figure out just how many classes you need to complete.

2. OWLs and NEWTs - again, submissions need to be turned in by May 31.

3. Check out Quidditch this term. It is not mandatory but so much fun! Show your HOUSE colors!

WELCOME to SPRING TERM 2011.
